We’ve all grown up (willingly or unwillingly) watching terrible Hindi TV serials with our mothers, but it seems like they’re only getting more ludicrous with each passing year.

Every other day, a video from a non-comic Hindi show becomes viral on the Internet, leaving us in a state of shock.

These scenes brilliantly defy physics and logic at the same time, leaving us wondering what the filmmakers were smoking. They’re honestly better than any comic Hindi show we’ve seen, and they deserve their own Oscar category.

Here are 5 of the most ridiculous and hilariously bakwaas sequences from Indian soap operas that deserve an Oscar for the writer’s wildest imagination.

1. Sangeeta Ghosh Fan Scene

This sequence from ‘Swaran Ghar,’ involving a dupatta and a fan, is the most recent addition to the list.

No, it’s not romantic in the way that writers imagined it to be. Ghosh’s dupatta gets caught in the fan, and instead of removing it, the hero tears it from her with his teeth. It’s at best amusing and absurd.

2. Pandemic Love

‘Yeh rishta kya kehlata hai?’ we wondered after seeing this scene. Are you a Corona fan?

In the most cringe-worthy fashion, the two leads of one of the longest-running shows, ‘YRKKH,’ lecture safety practises to the audience. We need eye sanitisers after viewing that kiss through face shields.

3. The Accidental Husband

How clumsy do you think you are? By stumbling at the wrong moment and in the wrong place, this guy ended up in a marriage. From the programme ‘Thapki Pyaar Ki,’ comes this directorial gem.

He tripped and got sindoor on his hands, as well as ‘accidentally’ applying it to the woman’s forehead. Or perhaps he meant to put it that way, and the only fool here is the audience.

Sindoor 2.0

And now for the second portion of this. The makers took it to the next level when the sindoor video went viral, and now there’s a flying thali with sindoor in it that two women are fighting over, while the thali takes its sweet time returning to earth.

Albert Einstein would turn in his grave at this scene.

4. Nearly Di*d Of Overeating

How can we include ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ on a list of ridiculous Hindi serial scenes?

It was difficult to pick just one ridiculous scene from this goldmine of a supernatural drama, but this one with Simar strangling herself and nearly dying from overacting is pure gold.

‘Itni zor se toh nahi maara tha,’ that mataji would say. Nautanki!’

5. The Girl In The Suitcase

Riddhima, the main character in the drama ‘Ishq Mein Marjawan,’ strikes her head against a wall and falls, becoming stuck in a suitcase and being brought away by the house staff.

There are a lot of questions here, but the most crucial one is how did she end up in a beautiful foetal position? We look like a drunkard at a train station when we tumble.
