8 Movies In Which Bollywood Actors Replaced Each Other For Strange Reasons

The Bollywood film industry creates the largest number of films worldwide. Hundreds of films are released in Bollywood each year and some of them earn broad acclaim for plots and castings. Although there are many Bollywood films that are undergoing changes to make the film more appealing and deeper. One of the constituent changes involves the shift in the cast of the film.

Here we come up with a list of Bollywood movies that underwent cast substitutions due to some odd reasons.

1. In Romeo Akbar Walter Movie, John Abraham replaced Sushant Singh Rajput

Romeo Akbar Walter was an action-drama of 2019 that revolved around a spy’s life, starring John Abraham in the lead role, and directed by Robby Grewal.

The filmmakers had already released the official posters as well as the motion posters that starred Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role but Sushant was pre-occupied with other projects including Drive and Raabta walked off the film. In John Abraham, the makers later found their replacement in the lead role.

2. In “All Is Well”, Supriya Pathak replaces Smriti Irani

All Is Well, Umesh Shukla has directed a romantic-comedy-drama for 2015. Although the film did not hook up the audience and also did not earn critical acclaim, it did have a strong cast in lead roles consisting of Rishi Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Supriya Pathak and Asin.

Supriya Pathak played Junior Bachchan’s on-screen mother in the film but earlier Smriti Irani was expected to play the role. In fact, some sequences of the film were shot with Smriti Irani, that’s why the film also has problems of continuity. Smriti Irani became the HRD minister during the filming process and became too busy and then Supriya Pathak replaced her in the film.

3. Govinda cameo was removed from Jagga Jasoos

Jagga Jasoos, a musical adventure directed by Anurag Basu and released in 2017, has had the potential to become a worldwide critically admired film but the long delay in editing has ruined its chances of becoming an internationally celebrated film. Very few people need to be aware that Govinda was expected to play a cameo role in the film but the plans did not materialise somehow.

A few years later, after the release of the film, director Anurag Basu made a clarification that due to changes in the plot, Govinda was not included in the film.

4. Harshvardhan Rane replaced Abhishek Bachchan in Paltan

Paltan was J.P Dutta’s 2018 war-action film and had a massive star cast including Jackie Shroff, Sonu Sood, Harshvardhan Rane, Ronit Roy, Esha Gupta, to name a few.

Abhishek Bachchan was cast to play a significant role in the film but Junior Bacchan left the project just before the film went on to the shooting floor. The makers finalised the newbie Harshvardhan Rane later on for Abhishek Bachchan’s role to be played earlier. The film’s plot revolved around the war in Indo-China but struggled to affect the viewer.

5. Ayushmann Khurrana replaced Harshvardhan Kapoor in Andhadhun

Andhadhun was Sriram Raghvan ‘s 2018 comedy thriller and starred in the lead roles with Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu and Radhika Apte. The film performed outstandingly well and also received wide critical acclaim. Following the release, Ayushmann Khuranna became one of Bollywood’s most sought after stars. The film has played a significant role in Ayushmann ‘s career as he won his first Andhadhun National Award.

Little do we know that Andhadhun was previously offered to Harshvardhan Kapoor but because of creative differences with director Sriram Raghvan, the star kid walked away from the film. Later on, Ayushamann was contacted for the lead role and he was ready to do anything for the lead role.

6. Akshay Kumar replaced Randeep Hooda in Kesari

Kesari was a war action directed by Anurag Singh in 2019 and featured the lead role of Akshay Kumar. The film revolves around the events leading up to the Battle of Zaragarhi, an 1897 war between 21 British Indian Army 36th Sikh soldiers and 10000 Afridi and Orakzai Pashtun tribesmen.

Kesari had earlier agreed to be shot in the lead role with Randeep Hooda, and when distributors walked out, nearly fifty per cent of the sequence was shot with him. Akshay Kumar was later cast into the lead role, and the film became a smashing success.

7. Shahid replaced Arjun Kapoor in Kabir Singh

Kabir Singh was a romantic-drama from 2019 and the remake of the popular South Indian film Arjun Reddy. The film was directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and featured on the titular role of Shahid Kapoor. We know that Shahid Kapoor wasn’t the first one to be approached for the lead role very little.

Arjun Kapoor was expected to play the titular role, but because Sandeep Reddy Vanga had previously met Shahid, he decided to cast Shahid in the lead role only. Arjun Kapoor, therefore, backed off the project, and Shahid Kapoor became Bollywood’s new romance symbol.

8. Tabu replaced Rekha in Fitoor

Fitoor is a romantic-drama directed by Abhishek Kapoor in 2016 and a diverse star cast including Tabu, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Lara Dutta, Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgn, Aditi Rao Hydari and so on. The film is based upon Charles Dickens’ popular book ‘Great Expectations.’ The film received mixed reviews from the audience while some thought it was a poor fictional work and others found it poetic in several ways.

Begum Hazrat’s character Jaan Mahal beautifully portrayed by Tabu was the soul of the whole film. But to your surprise, the role was offered earlier to veteran actor Rekha who left the film due to unusual similarities between her and the characters
