There was a different age of Bollywood in India when we were younger in the 1990s (possibly when some of us were not even born), with Govinda ruling the business.

Govinda was the go-to guy for directors when it came to comedies of all kinds, as well as dramas and action pictures.

This may explain why so many of his films still make people laugh, with the comedy of the era peaking around the time he was at the top.

Fast forward to 2022, and Govinda hasn’t appeared in many projects.

So, what was the major cause of such a humiliating fall from grace?

Why hasn’t Govinda, with his reputation and background, been in so many films throughout the years?

Well, there have been a lot of rumours flying around, with his alleged “unprofessional behaviour” being one of them. The actor’s appearance in Anurag Basu’s Jagga Jasoos, starring Ranbir Kapoor, was reportedly eliminated due to ‘unprofessional behaviour’ in 2017.

Now, the actor has addressed the issue and clarified a few points.

Govinda was asked in a new interview with Maniesh Paul how producers and directors in the industry thought he was ‘unprofessional.’

The actor replied,

“When you’re successful, a lot of people will want to bring you down. Nobody highlighted these issues when I was at the top of my game for 14-15 years and everything was going my way. This is the film industry, and people, like equations, change over time. There was no planning when I was at the top for 14 years. But I couldn’t do anything when I knew that people were turning against me. People who have been exposed to astrology, numerology, and Vastu shastra as a child… They are unconcerned with these insignificant individuals. It’s far too minor a component to consider. Mountains, too, crumble.”

David Dhawan, who had previously worked with Govinda in a number of films, had previously stated that he no longer wished to work with the star actor.
