We may all agree that the most we learned about sex education in school were a hurried biology class in which the teacher taught ‘Reproduction.’ That, too, was hurried and quiet. People looked to one know-it-all friend, sketchy Internet pages, and, of course, porn – the most untrustworthy source of information – anytime they wanted to learn about sex.

Sex Education on Netflix was a breath of fresh air recently, and we wished we had someone like Jean Milburn when we were younger. While we can’t alter the past, we’ve gathered a list of nine Instagram creators who make sex education simple. There are only two rules to sex: it must be consensual and it must be safe.

1. Dr Tanaya Narendra (@drcuterus)

Dr Tanaya is a fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health and a gynaecologist. She utilises Instagram to create reels and other thorough posts about a variety of topics, including sex and sex myths, PCOS, periods, and body acceptance. Her work focuses on men and women, and she has 916K Instagram followers. She also provides Hindi-language content to make sex education more accessible to all.

2. Leeza Mangaldas (@leezamangaldas)

Leeza’s material concentrates around talking about all elements of sex, and she has 840K Instagram followers. She discusses bodily anatomy, sex toys, bed communication, contraceptives, and other topics. She even challenges heteronormative ideas about sex and generates content for a wide range of audiences. She also makes Hindi-language material.

3. Seema Anand (@seemaanandstorytelling)

India and the Kama Sutra are inextricably linked. Seema spent twenty years studying the Kama Shastras and is now a writer and sexual health educator. She concentrates on debunking myths and also discusses sex for the elderly (something that is hardly talked about). She has 700,000 Instagram followers.

4. Apurupa Vatsalya (@inapurupriate)

Sex is a very different experience for gay people. This is where Apurupa enters the picture. The focus of their content is on sexual and reproductive health and rights. They also discuss issues that are taboo, such as polyamory, drag culture, and so on. They have 18.7K Instagram followers.

5. Karishma Swarup (@talkyounevergot)

Karishma, according to her moniker, raises awareness about sexual issues, a conversation that we all should have had but never did. Her topics include various types of pleasure, contraception, STIs, the HPV vaccine, and virginity misconceptions. On Instagram, she has 52.4K followers.

6. Dr Sakshi Tickoo (@sex.love.andot)

Dr Sakshi is an occupational therapist and a sexuality counsellor with over 7K Instagram followers. She discusses LGBTQ sex, non-penetrative sex, debunking BDSM clichés, and even toxic sex positivity.

7. Pallavi Barnwal (@coachpallavibarnwal)

Pallavi has 51.9K Instagram followers as a sexuality and relationship counsellor. One of the most effective ways to develop intimacy between two consenting lovers is through sex. She raises awareness about sex, dating, sex in marriages, and other themes through her writing.

8. Dr Varuna Srinivasan (@drvarunasrinivasan)

Dr Varuna, who has 45.7K Instagram followers, creates stuff that involves queers. She writes about a variety of subjects, including virginity myths, asexuality, bisexuality, and sex myths, to name a few.

Have you got any sex-related questions? Turn your attention to them. They have content on masturbation, erotica, sex work, kinks, and other topics, to name a few. According to her bio, Seema Anand is an authority on the Kama Sutra and a skilled mythologist. Anand is a proponent of self-pleasure, particularly that of women. Intimacy and sexual satisfaction are discussed in her other book, The Arts of Seduction. Sex was considered an art form in Indian writings like the Kama Sutra. Anand emphasises this and exhorts individuals to let go of any guilt they may have regarding their sexual behaviour. By empowering women to pursue pleasure on their own, she hopes to erase the stigma around female self-gratification.

Still waiting for sex education to be made compulsory in schools. We’ll have to make do with these creators till then.
