By now, most of us do not know whether to trust something that we see on social media. People usually won’t put their whole lives out there – just put their best sides up, or their most dramatic ones. It’s just about getting publicity anyway, right? But people will either use the spotlight for their own egos or seek to do some good actually. Yet there was one famous Instagram star who chose not to put her best side out there, and that might just do some good.

In her Instagram pictures, Australian fitness model Emily Skye may not have a poor perspective, but she needs her fans to know that she is far from flawless – and that’s all right.

Her photos almost always look perfect, and she obviously spends a lot of time in the gym, but she also knows the risks of linking your self-worth to your image too closely.

She shares in her post that “sometimes I look like the pic to the left, sometimes I look like the pic to the right. – I’m not always abs or lean looking and I’m never ‘great.’

Although she’s a popular fitness model, she understands the daily frustrations many women feel. “I was once sitting at a fitness shoot and was told by someone (while pointing at my belly) “Fitness models don’t have belly rolls when they sit” – I was so upset about this & felt so inadequate… Nowadays I know better. My priority is how I feel mentally and physically!”

“Perfection doesn’t exist, which is easy to forget… So here’s a reminder from me that I bloat.. I also have stretch marks, cellulite and pimples (as you may have seen in previous posts). I’m nowhere near perfect.. and that’s fine by me!”

Although her beautiful images of fitness may have attracted millions of fans, she also got a huge response from her more candid moments. The side-by-side article showing off her belly rolls got over 70,000 likes.

“Some of the things we see in these pictures are not” positive “or” realistic, “so comparing ourselves will never do us any good,” she said.
