Now it doesn’t matter whether it’s the story, musical score, characters or even the film posters, Bollywood has been continuously accused of stealing from Hollywood. While the Indian film directors justify it by calling it an inspiration, but the critics and hardcore moviegoers see that as the obvious plagiarism. We have seen many Hindi films being a cheap rip-off of classic and cult English films, such as Sanjay Gupta’s Kaante being inspired heavily from Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs. Emraan Hashmi and Mallika Sherawat starrer romantic thriller ‘Murder’ is the Indian remake of the film Unfaithful (2002) which starred Diane Lane.

Now the reason why Bollywood copies heavily from Hollywood is that of their lack of creativity. I mean it is easier to just copy and make great money with someone else’s work. Bollywood hates the word ‘Copying’, it prefers ‘Inspired’. But there are also times when the west Hollywood took inspiration from the Bollywood and copied the Indian movies. The most notable examples being ‘Vicky Donor’ and ‘A Wednesday’.
