Who Is Sucheta Dalal?
Sucheta Dalal is a journalist and author who has built her reputation through informative analysis, high-level reporting, and imaginative news stories. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Karnatak College in Statistics, after which she received a graduate and post-graduate degree from Bombay University in Law. Subsequently, in 1984, Sucheta started her journalism career by landing a job with an investment magazine, Fortune India.
Later, before becoming the Financial Editor for The Times of India, she went on to work with news companies such as Business Standard and The Economic Times. She broke the news about the Indian financial scam while holding this last position, which led to a CBI investigation and eventually resulted in Harshad Mehta’s arrest.

Sucheta is an activist and a trustee of MoneyLIFE as well, according to her Twitter profile. And as if all this were not enough, she also takes an active interest in problems relating to customers and investors, defending commoners from fraud and wrongdoing.

Sucheta was a member of the Investor Security and Education Fund set up by the Government and of the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s Primary Market Advisory Committee. And currently, she is an active trustee of the Consumer Education and Research Centre of Ahmedabad, one of the largest consumer and investor protection, promotion, and advocacy organizations in India.
Sucheta is also a member of Bank of Baroda’s Consumer Services Committee and a member of the Consumer Complaints Board of the Advertisement Quality Council of India (ASCI) (CCC).
