A 24-year-old live-streamer who was known for her extreme eating habits passed away while showing her thousands of fans her 10-hour food binge of cake, chicken fingers, and seafood.

Chinese national Pan Xiaoting passed away this week after consuming 10 kg (22 lbs) of food, including what looked to be chocolate cake, due to a suspected stomach rip.

Her stomach had grown significantly distorted and loaded with undigested food, according to the autopsy reports. This finding raises the possibility that her stomach burst and food and stomach acid leaked into her belly.

Xiaoting, who was severely obese, rose to fame in China as a result of her Mukbang live streaming, a phenomenon in which participants consume enormous quantities of food—typically unhealthy food—while being filmed. South Korea is where it all began.

As some content creators in the US gain enormous popularity, doctors are now cautioning influencers in the West that they might be next.

Nicholas Perry, better known to his 3.8 million YouTube fans as Nikocado Avocado, is one of the most well-known content providers.

The Pennsylvania native, 32, has amassed a multimillion-dollar fortune by recording himself indulging in excessive food and sharing bizarre videos of his weight increase.

Even though he started recording himself eating a lot of ramen or pancakes at IHOP in 2017, he now frequently consumes over 10,000 calories while being filmed for videos that include “I hate myself, Goodbye YouTube & life” and “Celebrating Our 700 Pound Milestone,” which also features a friend.

He started his adventure in 2016 at about 160 pounds, and as of right now, he is said to weigh 350 pounds.

With over 280,000 YouTube followers, Hungry Fat Chick, also known as Candy Godiva, has established herself as a mainstay in the mukbang video industry. She is another online sensation. Her estimated net worth is $1 million.

Senior psychology lecturer Dr Andrew Harris of Nottingham Trent University in the UK stated: “Mukbang videos emphasise indulgence and consumption, potentially perpetuating a cycle of overeating or unhealthy food relationships.”

Despite China’s complete prohibition on mukbang videos, content producers continue to stream their binges live.

On July 14, Pan Xiaoting gave a live feed of her 10-hour eating marathon before collapsing. There were reports of viewers attempting to aid remotely, but it was insufficient.

Her tummy was bleeding when she was admitted to the hospital, but it’s unclear when she was allowed to go. The majority of the food she had eaten was still in her stomach when she passed away since it hadn’t fully broken down.

One’s likelihood of later developing additional serious gastrointestinal problems is significantly increased if they have a history of stomach bleeding.
