Brazilian influencer Debora Peixoto has ignited widespread controversy online after disclosing that she uses her faeces as a face mask. The 31-year-old influencer even shared a video demonstrating her unconventional skincare practice, where she applies the faeces directly to her face.

“This is the wildest thing I’ve ever tried,” Peixoto confessed to Jam Press. Previously known for gaining attention by using menstrual blood as part of her skincare routine, Peixoto said she was inspired to try the faecal mask after reading claims online that it could “prevent ageing.”

In her Instagram video, which showcases her skincare routine to her 658,000 followers, Peixoto is seen opening a container holding her faeces and applying it to her face as if it were a standard mud mask. To deal with the smell, she uses a clothespin to clip her nose and leaves the mask on for a few minutes before rinsing it off. The video ends with Peixoto proudly displaying her glowing skin.

“It’s been effective for me, and my skin has stopped peeling!” Peixoto enthusiastically shared, further fueling the debate surrounding her skincare habits. Peixoto, who previously made headlines for marrying her much older cousin, has once again sparked public debate.

Medical professionals quickly condemned the bizarre beauty practice, cautioning that the health risks significantly outweigh any potential benefits.

“Among all the skincare ‘trends,’ this is one of the most bizarre I’ve ever encountered,” remarked Dr. Sophie Momen, a consultant dermatologist at London’s Cadogan Clinic. “There is absolutely no scientific backing for the idea that using faeces as a face mask benefits the skin.”

Dr. Momen also warned that this unusual method could expose individuals to bacterial and viral infections, food poisoning, and skin irritation.

Plastic surgeon Mr. Tunc Tiryaki echoed these concerns, explaining that faeces contain harmful bacteria, viruses, and parasites, including E. coli, Salmonella, and helminths, which can lead to severe infections and diseases. He warned that applying faeces to the face could introduce these pathogens through small cuts or mucous membranes, possibly resulting in serious skin infections or systemic illnesses. He strongly recommended that people stick to modern skincare products.

Social media users also reacted with disgust to Peixoto’s extreme beauty routine. “People are going too far on the internet. This is troubling,” one critic commented, while another joked, “This is why aliens don’t communicate with us.”
