In today’s world, it’s almost impossible to imagine life without smartphone apps. They’ve woven themselves into every aspect of our routine. Whether it’s connecting with friends, shopping online, enjoying some entertainment, or even managing our health, apps are there for everything.
From scrolling through social media feeds to buying your next outfit, binge-watching shows, or checking on your health—software covers it all. It’s like a digital Swiss-army knife, right? Every need, is one click away.

With so many apps competing for attention, developers have gotten clever, don’t you think? They’ve begun crafting notifications that grab your eye, making sure their app doesn’t get lost in the flood of alerts we get every day. And some of these notifications? They’re a mix of humour and creativity, all to keep us hooked.
The notification in question? It was about an i-Pill. Understandably, the woman, along with many others, was not happy.
This wasn’t a small issue either. It caused such a stir that Zepto had to publicly acknowledge their mistake and promise to never let it happen again. It’s a reminder that sometimes, trying to stand out can backfire.
I miss you, Pallavi, says I-Pill emergency contraceptive pill.
A situation just like this played out recently with Zepto, the well-known e-commerce app. A woman got a notification from them that wasn’t just off-putting—it was downright disturbing.

Zepto’s notification wasn’t just inappropriate; it was shocking. Pallavi Pareek, the woman who received it, was completely taken aback. Imagine opening your phone and seeing a message like that from a grocery app.
Dear Zepto and Zepto Cares team. So many things wrong about this. One, I have never ordered an emergency pill from you. Even if I did, you should know that this is not something that should be missing me or I should be missing it. You want me to have a need of taking an emergency contraceptive? But most important why am I getting this when this order has never been placed with you.
Messaging is right only if it is sensitive or humorous or has some logic to it. I draw a line when your notifications are flirty or trying to be sleazy cheesy. But this is a little too much.
Note: just to keep it right- I love Zepto as an app. They are a huge backbone to my life considering I rely heavily on such apps to place orders. This post is to highlight the flaw in mindless logic and copy and not against ipill promo or availability.

Zepto recognizes their mistake and apologizes to the customer
Zepto replied to Pallavi’s social media post as soon as the incident gained attention. Zepto quickly acknowledged its error and acknowledged that the conversation was clumsy and could have been harmful. In response, Zepto said,
Hey Pallavi, We messed up, and for that, we’re truly sorry. We understand how thoughtless and potentially harmful it was. Please know we’ve taken immediate action: Corrected the issue, Updated our processes, Retrained our team. We value your trust and well-being above all. This mistake won’t happen again. Speedily yours, Team Zepto
