Following the appearance of a married woman’s photo on its premium subscription service under a phoney profile, BharatMatrimony has become the target of criticism. Swati Mukund cautioned users about what she referred to as the “BharatMatrimony Scam” and advised them to take caution when looking for partners on the platform. She stressed that she didn’t meet her husband through any matrimonial app.

As she shared the video, she added, “I guess there’s more acrimony than matrimony.” “To ensure that they don’t use our photo and then later claim that we found each other on their app,” she continued, “the husband is in the first part of the video.” On Instagram, she tagged BharatMatrimony.

“So, this is a post on India’s number one and supposedly most trusted matrimonial app, BharatMatrimony,” Mukund says at the beginning of the video. The video shows a screenshot of the app with her photo and the words “BharatMatrimony Scam” displayed.

“How on earth are you doing it?” she asks.

Mukund cautions platform users towards the end of the video, saying, “Clearly it’s not working.” However, given that what you see is not always what you receive, we strongly advise all platform users to exercise caution before utilising these programs.

The app’s snapshot displays Mukund’s photo on the profile of Nithya Raja Sekar, a 35-year-old Brahmin who is 5’9″ and has a B.Tech degree. The “Newly Joined” tag indicates that Sekar, a fitness professional from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, just joined the site.

One person replied, “I had the same problems with BharatMatrimony. It featured my pictures with the caption, “Divorcee looking for a decent spouse,” even though I have never been married.”
