Cab services have grown to be a necessary aspect of our everyday life in recent years. Thanks to companies like Uber, Ola, Rapido, and others, the advent of smartphones, internet access, and digital payments has completely changed how people commute. These services are useful, efficient, and often less expensive than more traditional modes of transportation like buses, taxis, and autorickshaws.
These taxi-hailing services currently confront a variety of challenges despite their obvious benefits. Of them, the driver-related issues are the most important. Safety concerns have been raised by the occurrence of harassment, collisions, and even crimes involving drivers or passengers, despite their rarity. Concerns over passenger safety have been raised recently by a video that went viral showing a woman falling from a Rapido two-wheeler. Notably, Rapido has responded to the event as well.

The passenger captured her own accident during a Rapido ride:
A recent video uploaded by Instagram user Priyanka went viral online for all the wrong reasons. She was seen filming herself in the video. But while she was doing this, she stumbled and dropped the bike onto the road.
Priyanka claimed that the driver had refused to offer her a helmet and was not wearing one. Her heart was racing, she continued, because the motorist was cutting recklessly, avoiding, and driving in the wrong direction on important roads. To document the experience, she started recording the ride. She later posted her video to Instagram to inform everyone of her ordeal. She wrote in the video’s caption,
@rapidoapp @rapidocaptain ek bs aap logo pe khud se jyada bhrosa tha, apne b tod diya. Well, jokes apart, I am okay and went straight to office post this incident. This might be the first time where I felt super unsafe with the way the Rapido driver was driving.
Priyanka went on to say that the driver was not only driving recklessly but also failing to provide her with a helmet. She penned,
First, I asked for helmet to which he relied no need to wear it (he was himself not wearing it). Then, his super chill nature despite of breaking so many traffic rules altogether was bothering me. He was taking wrong side on each main road and with those twist and turns my heartbeat was racing even more. I took out my phone to record all this. I even told him why did u cross the road and took the wrong side when the metro is on the other side, he said “mam due to the traffic I did it” and he was listening to music, chanting “Har Har Mahadev” to each shiv kanwad tent on the way.
The Rapido bike and another two-wheeler collided in front of a Delhi Police vehicle, causing the accident. Priyanka claims that although the police were there, they did not intervene. She ultimately offered her money to the injured driver, got off, and left. Priyanka penned,
Then suddenly our vehicle hit to the other 2 wheeler coming from the other side right in front of the Delhi police car. Since, rapido driver was injured so police didn’t take any action and I also paid him then and there. Post that, I went to the metro station by walking.
She chastised the business for hiring irresponsible drivers and not prioritising the safety of its passengers. Priyanka came to the conclusion,
With all this incident, I just want to highlight @rapidoapp @rapidocaptain to hire people who are responsible rather than those nonchalant guys who ride like they have 9 lives.
