One of the most expressive and adaptable actors in the Indian cinema business is Swara Bhasker. But unlike other actresses, she is renowned for her bold political and social criticism in addition to her strong on-screen performances. She is proud of her political and social beliefs, as evidenced by her participation in protests, her tweets about national concerns, and her op-eds in the mainstream media. She has, however, also frequently been the target of online harassment and trolling as a result of her support.

And now things have become so bad that even Fahad Ahmad, Swara Bhasker’s spouse, is unable to avoid this trolling. Due to their appearance on the recently launched celebrity reality show “Pati Patni Aur Panga,” which is hosted by Munawar Faruqui and Sonali Bendre, Swara and her spouse are currently in the headlines. But in the middle of all of this, Swara had to deal with a really horrible internet troll who was threatening her husband.
A netizen attempted to harass Fahad Ahmad, Swara Bhasker’s husband:
A person on X, formerly Twitter, posted a harsh comment about Swara’s husband, Fahad Ahmad, mocking his appearance and background shortly after videos of Pati Patni Aur Panga became viral. According to the user, Parineeti Chopra and Swara were both using their husbands for PR. The tweet went viral right away due to its obviously casteist and classist implications, but not in the way the user had expected. The troll wrote:
She took his Dongri ka chhapri husband to a reality show. Forget PR, her husband looked like a street vendor from Dongri.

When a troll attempted to harass Swara Bhasker’s husband, how did she respond?
Following this, Swara Bhasker gave a prompt and appropriate reaction. She told them about the casteist origins of the name “chhapri” and pointed out the troll’s language. In response, Swara Bhasker said,
This twit who describes himself both as a proud Hindu and Ambedkarite does not seem to know that Chhapri is a casteist slang… a derogatory term used to describe a community that fixes ‘chhappars’ or thatched huts…Also, nothing wrong with being a street vendor from Dongri or anywhere, you casteist/classist trash-brain! #CasteistAlert.

What was the response of online users to her tweet?
Social media users applauded Swara’s courageous statement, saying she stood up to discrimination and defended the value of all working-class people.
Check out a few of the replies:
Pls ignore such low life trolls.
They don’t deserve ur attention.

Well said, Swara. Many people casually use casteist slurs without understanding their roots or implications. Language matters, especially when it reinforces centuries of discrimination.
