Mrunal Thakur has been in the news lately for three reasons: her movie Son of Sardaar 2, which co-stars Ajay Devgn, came out, she was connected to Dhanush, and her old video in which Mrunal made fun of Bipasha Basu reappeared. Her widely shared interview was reportedly recorded back when Mrunal was a cast member of the television program Kumkum Bhagya.

Mrunal questioned her co-star in this extensively shared video, “Do you want to marry a female who is macho with muscles? Get married to Bipasha. Get married to Bipasha. Listen, I’m much superior to Bipasha. After being extensively harassed, Mrunal has finally responded to the old interview.

Mrunal Thakur apologised on her official social media account a few hours ago. The actor wrote, “As a youngster, I said a lot of dumb things when I was 19 years old. I wasn’t always aware of how much my voice carried or how hurtful even light-hearted remarks may be. However, it did, and I sincerely apologise for that. Body-shaming was never my intention. In an interview, it was light-hearted joking that went too far. However, I realise how it came out, and I sincerely regret the words I used. I now genuinely value the fact that beauty may take many forms, as I have come to realise throughout time.

Netizens are split about this apologies. Mrunal is being praised by some. “I mean, it’s good that she is owning up to her mistake,” said one social media user. Well done. Bips will always be beautiful, too! 🥰,” while another wrote, “Mrunal was a little immature back then when he was young, like I mentioned. However, what she said was unquestionably incorrect. She has expressed regret. It’s time to leave this subject alone. Most fans, however, are angry that Mrunal failed to specifically apologise to Bipasha and failed to address her in her post.

According to one of these internet users, “Madam, you were immature then, okay! However, you are now a fully grown adult. Name the woman you humiliated in the name of “playful banter.” She isn’t an unknown woman; name her. It’s not that difficult,” someone else wrote, while another said, “I think she should have named Bipasha in her apologies since she publicly defamed her. If not, it simply seems like image washing. “This seems very forced,” said another commenter. She ought to have thanked Bipasha Basu for everything she stands for and offered a personal apology, in my opinion. She should also apologise publicly because she publicly humiliated her. One netizen said, “You intended to body shame someone.” Man, you have a half-hearted apology. It’s giving I apologise that you felt that way.
