The majority of CEOs spend their days talking about company expansion, market trends, and business plans. However, a recent viral video featured Nithin Kamath, CEO of Zerodha, taking on a completely different task: comprehending Gen Z internet lingo.

The humorous video, which was released by Gowri Bhat Gandotra from Rainmatter by Zerodha, shows a light-hearted conversation between the business owner and a younger coworker who tests his understanding of common online idioms. Social media users have been amused by this endearing generation gap moment.

After calling him a “boomer boss” in jest, she corrects herself and identifies him as a member of Generation X. Now that the introductions are finished, the test starts.

The first word on the list is “rizz,” a phrase that is frequently used in social media discussions. When someone says, “This person’s got a lot of rizz,” Gowri asks Kamath what that means.

Kamath is genuinely perplexed by the phrase. Gowri explains that “rizz” is short for charisma after observing his perplexity. He laughs at the realisation as he gets ready for the next task.

“Simp” is the second word. When asked to define it, Kamath makes an educated assumption.

He responds, “I think it’s a slang word for simple.”

Sadly for him, that was not the right response.

From there, the test only gets more difficult. The term “clock it” is then introduced by Gowri, who even makes the hand signal that is frequently connected to it on the internet. The phrase is frequently used to show that someone has correctly identified a subtle observation, grasped a hidden meaning, or recognised an important detail.

Kamath still doesn’t seem to understand when and how the phrase is used, even after the explanation.

With the last question, his luck turns around. Kamath finally answers correctly when asked what “slay” means, earning a point on the scoreboard.

Gowri concludes the test by saying, “You got 1 out of 4, so not bad.”

Since then, the video has delighted viewers, many of whom commended Kamath for accepting the joke and contributing in a light-hearted manner. For many, it was a welcome look at a CEO who was able to navigate the constantly changing language of the internet while laughing at himself.
