After applauding Mexico’s recent World Cup victory, former Mexican mayor Sandra Cuevas went viral.

From October 2021 to March 2024, Sandra Cuevas was the mayor of the Cuauhtemoc borough of Mexico City.

In a partnership with the National Action Party and the Institutional Revolutionary Party, the 40-year-old politician was represented by the Party of the Democratic Revolution.

She is currently employed by the Mexico Nuevo political movement, which is attempting to obtain official registration in order to be acknowledged as a political party, as a Mexico City coordinator.

Because Mexico’s football team advanced to the World Cup knockout stage, the country’s streets were boisterous and colourful, and Cuevas’ videos went viral.

Mexico defeated South Africa 2-0 to start the tournament.

Last week, they defeated South Korea 1-0 once more.

Cuevas has gained notoriety for participating in street celebrations following Mexico’s recent World Cup victory.

After the victory over South Korea, people celebrated in the streets.

Fans were dancing in the rain, waving flags, and donning masks and green El Tri jerseys—a well-known moniker for the Mexican national football team.

Cuevas, a former mayor, joined the revellers to celebrate her nation’s seamless qualification for the knockout stages.

However, a lot of the internet conversation seemed to be overly preoccupied with her white tank top.

Some mocked her, saying, “Have some self-respect,” while others urged her to hide.
