A US woman living in India has spoken out against a fake AI-generated video that has amassed around 28 million views while portraying the country in an extremely negative light. In her viral response, she called out the clip for deliberately trying to make India look “filthy and dirty.”
The American woman, who goes by the Instagram handle @kshytrea (also referred to as Kristen Fischer in some reports), shared her reaction after coming across the AI-generated video. The original clip allegedly showed an obese man rolling rotis on his stomach while being interviewed — a scene she described as completely fabricated and designed to damage India’s image.

In her Instagram post, the woman explained why such content is harmful:
“People are trying to make India look worse than it actually is. Nobody is out rolling roties on their big fat stomach like this. And the worst part is that this video is an AI-generated video, which means that somebody went out of their way to make this video specifically to make India look bad. India is not this gross and dirty, but this is the news. No wonder everybody thinks that India is the worst on earth to live in because this is the kind of stuff they are seeing. India is actually a wonderful place to live with lots of great people, and this is not what India looks like.”
She further added that as a foreigner living in India, she often hears people ask why she chooses to stay in a “filthy” country. According to her, the negative perception is largely shaped by the kind of exaggerated or fake content that circulates online.
In the caption, she wrote:
“The original video got 28M views. This is the garbage that millions of people are seeing on social media about India. This video is not even real, it is AI. Someone intentionally had this video made to make a bad name for India… I would be so annoyed as an Indian if this is all that was being presented about my country.”
