A dramatic incident on a train has gone viral after a ticketless woman tore her own clothes during an argument with a Ticket Checking Staff (TTE) in an apparent attempt to falsely accuse him of misbehaviour. What she did not know was that a fellow passenger sitting across from her had recorded the entire episode.
The incident took place on September 17 on the Danapur-Secunderabad Express between Danapur and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction in Uttar Pradesh.
How the Incident Unfolded
According to railway officials, ticket-checking staff were inspecting tickets in the second AC coach after the train left Danapur. When they asked the woman to show her ticket, she was unable to produce one. She was asked to get off the coach but later moved to a third AC coach.
The checking staff followed her to the third AC coach, where she was sitting with a girl child. Officials said she continued to argue and refused to buy a ticket despite repeated requests.
What the Video Shows
A passenger sitting opposite her recorded the confrontation. In the video, the woman can be heard saying she is willing to pay, while the staffer insists on a valid ticket.
At one point, she claims she is calling her brother, saying he is also a TTE. She then searches for a railway police helpline number on her phone and tells people around her that she would “trap” the TTE.
The video then shows her tearing her own clothes. She can be heard making threats and abusing the ticket-checking staff. Meanwhile, the TTEs discuss informing railway control about the incident.
Action Taken
When the train reached Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction around 4 pm, RPF personnel (who had been alerted by railway control) were present. The woman was taken off the train and questioned.
The passenger who recorded the incident then showed the video to the railway staff. The footage clearly showed the sequence of events leading up to the woman tearing her clothes.
The woman identified herself as Radhika Tiwari and was travelling from Danapur to Prayagraj. She was eventually issued a ticket along with a fine and allowed to leave.
Official Statement
Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya rail division PRO Vishwanath confirmed that the woman was found travelling without a ticket in the second AC coach and later moved to the third AC coach. He said the checking staff repeatedly requested her to get a ticket, but she did not comply. The staff informed divisional control, and an RPF women’s team attended to the matter at the junction.
Vishwanath denied that the checking staff had misbehaved with her and stated that the action taken was as per railway rules. S K Verma, one of the ticket-checking staffers, said they were unaware that the incident was being recorded and that the video helped establish the truth.
