There are many in Bollywood who simply stay away from endorsing a fairness cream. Reason? It gives out a really strong message of racism indirectly. We get that. But some stars do join the fairness cream bandwagon as the faces of their brands.
To endorse or not to endorse – has been an age old question asked for celebrities over several products. Today, Abhay Deol literally slammed the use of fairness creams and the brands that produce them in a series of posts on Facebook.
But in turn, he also took several potshots at some of the top Bollywood stars of today. While he slammed Deepika Padukone’s print ad for the change in coloration of her eyes, he also took a jibe at Shah Rukh Khan asking men to not use fairness cream for women. It didn’t end there. He put out a social campaign which featured Nandita Das and asked her if the message she was propagating isn’t already the case.
Along with these, he also dissed Shahid Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra and Sonam Kapoor’s ad campaigns for their respective brands. We wonder what fuelled this step!
