Ashneer Grover rose to fame after his appearance as a judge on the well-known business reality TV programme Shark Tank India. He was the previous co-founder and managing director of BharatPe. Because of his haughty behaviour, he gained notoriety and became the most talked-about shark.

In addition to Ashneer, the popular show also featured Namita Thapar, Peyush Bansal, Aman Gupta, Anupam Mittal, Vineeta Singh, and Ghazal Alagh as judges. Shark Tank season 2 is now in full swing, but the judges’ panel has not been formally revealed.

Ashneer Grover received an invitation to the Lovely Professional University a few months later, on April 29, 2022. The speaker at the event focused primarily on business and marketing-related issues. He discussed how a firm operates and what should be considered before starting an enterprise.

Salman Khan to become Ashneer’s Brand Ambassador

He mentioned a time when he wanted to recruit Bollywood actor Salman Khan as the brand ambassador for BharatPe but ran out of money during his speech. He remembered the manager of Salman Khan at the time having a humorous response.

In 2019, Grover hired Salman to serve as the fintech company’s brand ambassador. When discussing his status at the time, he said,

“2019 mein Salman Khan ko brand ambassador liya. Koi soch bhi nahi sakta tha. Mere paas bank mein 100 crore pade the, jisse merko pura business banana tha or merko ye pata tha ki yaar koi bhi business banana haina, jo bhi paise ke len den ka business hota hai woh business of trust hota hai, ‘ki agar main aap pe trust karta hun toh business chalega, trust nahi karta hun toh ek paise ka len den nahi hone wala’. Ab main choti company tha, merko overnight trust generate karna tha, toh merko laga ki main Salman Khan ko brand ambassador leta hun.”

He claimed to have Rs. 100 crores in his bank account, which he intended to use to run his company. He wanted Salman to handle the promotions because he was just starting out in business and wanted to earn trust quickly.

He went on saying,

“Ab Salman ki team ko approach kara, toh woh bole ki 7.5 crore lagenge, toh main calculation kar raha hun 100 crore pade hain, 7.5 isko dunga, 1-2 crore ki ad banegi, fir chalani bhi toh hai TV pe, toh merko 20 crore ka panga hai aur 100 cropre meri jeb mein pade hain, next round hoga nahi hoga merko nahi pata, but maine woh liya panga and main Salman ko bola kam karde bhai, toh woh 4.5 mein maan gaya.”

He claimed that the actor demanded Rs 7.5 crores for it and that Grover also incurred additional costs of between Rs 1-2 crores to run the television campaign. He requested Salman to reevaluate the price because he wasn’t sure he would be able to pay the sum in full, and it ultimately dropped to Rs 4.5 crores.

Salman’s manager’s hilarious reply to Ashneer

According to Ashneer, the actor’s manager then approached them and said,

“Sir aap bhindi kharidne aaye ho kya, kitni mandwali karoge?” (Sir, have you come to buy vegetables, how many negotiations will you do?)

To this Ashneer replied,

“Mere paas hai hi nahi paise, de hi nahi sakta” (I don’t have enough money to give you)

Ashneer’s new business venture

Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain have launched a new business called Third Unicorn in the interim. Ashneer declared his new business on his 40th birthday because they are no longer a member of BharatPe. He wrote,

“Today I turn 40. Some will say I’ve lived a full life and experienced more things than most. Created value for generations. For me it’s still unfinished business. Time to disrupt another sector. It’s time for the Third Unicorn!!”
