About the Haldiram Family

The Agrawal family behind Haldiram’s is one of India’s wealthiest business dynasties:

Shiv Kishan Agrawal, who runs Nagpur-based Haldiram Foods International, merged his company with Delhi-based Haldiram Foods. Agrawal is the grandson of the founder Ganga Bishan Agarwal, who started selling snacks from a tiny shop in Bikaner in Rajasthan and went on to create the popular Haldiram brand. The business was eventually divided among the patriarch’s grandsons into three separate companies, operating out of Nagpur, Delhi and Kolkata.

In 2025, Singaporean state-owned investment firm Temasek acquired more than 9% stake in Haldiram’s at a valuation of nearly US$10 billion.

Haldiram’s Delhi operations generate nearly Rs 5,000 crore annually, while Nagpur contributes around Rs 4,000 crore.

Shiv Kishan Agrawal’s net worth is estimated at approximately $3.57 billion.

The Haldiram Legacy

The family began with a small sweet shop in Bikaner, which has now transformed into a multi-crore empire. Despite its success, internal disputes within the family, along with legal battles, have tarnished its shine over the years. The Haldiram saga began in 1900 in Bikaner, where a small-town boy, Ganga Bishan Agarwal, later known as Haldiram, started his journey. In 1919, he experimented with a thinner version of ‘bhujia’ made from moth flour, which became a massive hit in Bikaner.

In the 1980s, Shiv Kishan Agarwal and his sister Saraswati expanded into Maharashtra, particularly Nagpur, where they built a strong presence in the snack market.

This wedding joins the ranks of other mega Indian weddings in recent years, drawing comparisons to the lavish Ambani celebrations and showcasing the continued tradition of opulent celebrations among India’s business elite.
