Social media users showered a shopkeeper in Bhuj, Gujarat, with praise after he went above and above to give a lost wallet back to a U.S. visitor.

Steph, a traveler, recounted in a video posted by the Instagram account Animuchx, “I left my wallet on the train on the way here, which is like four days ago.” Actually, until Chirag, the storekeeper, discovered the wallet and made sure to give it back to her, Steph had thought she had lost it forever.

Overjoyed, Steph gave Chirag a heartfelt thank you for everything. She even attempted to tip Chirag, but he adamantly refused to take any cash.

Chirag’s candour was praised in the video’s caption, which said, “Steph, a US tourist, lost her wallet on the train in Bhuj, Gujarat.” Chirag declined Steph’s request to tip him. His generosity touched her.

“I feel like there’s so much positive that happens here and there’s so much negative that comes out of India,” Steph said at the end of the video.

Social media users praised Chirag’s moral character and demanded that more commonplace deeds of compassion be acknowledged.

One user commented, “That guy proved that chirag means ‘a ray of light,'” while another stated, “I feel proud that I was born and raised in Kutch.” The spirit of India and the Kutch has been exquisitely captured by Chirag.

“The real people of India,” another viewer added. May God grant this man blessings.
