Because of its inexpensive regular flights, IndiGo is one of the most popular airlines in India. The 2024 poll, which includes data from January to October, ranked IndiGo as one of the “worst airlines in the world,” according to an annual report published by AirHelp. With a score of 4.80, it ranked the domestic carrier 103rd out of 109 examined. With a score of 6.15, the survey placed Air India in 61st place and AirAsia in 94th. IndiGo denied the report’s allegations.
The poll indicates that poor customer satisfaction and inadequate processing of flight interruption claims are the reasons for IndiGo’s low rating.
An EU-based claim processing company called AirHelp surveys airlines worldwide on their timeliness, service quality, and compensation claim handling. The final score is the sum of these equally weighted criteria. Incorporating on-time performance, customer claims processing, and passenger comments on food, comfort, and service from 54 nations, the report encompasses data from January to October.
According to Tomasz Pawliszyn, CEO of AirHelp, who was cited by Bloomberg, the rankings are meant to “encourage airlines to continuously listen to passenger feedback,” giving an overview of airline performance.
IndiGo criticised the methodology, stating that it “cast doubt on the credibility of the survey”:
The airline said in its statement that the survey’s veracity is called into question because it does not disclose the sample size from India. IndiGo further noted that the methodology and pay standards used by the international airline industry were not taken into account in the poll.
