Japanese Man Spends 2 Years Planting Thousands of Flowers to Bring His Blind Wife Joy

You can love someone so much that you would want to go to the ends of the world to make them happy. It doesn’t matter what it’s going to take, and as long as there’s something out there that can put a smile to their faces, you’d give it to their feet all you can. Yeah, there is some kind of love there.

If a single flower can make anyone happy, think of what a garden can do filled with thousands of beautiful, sweet-smelling flowers.

Mr and Mrs Kuroki have been living in Japan for 64 years[1]. In Shintomi, Miyazaki, Japan the couple owned a dairy farm. They worked on their farm for 30 years and worked hard and then it was time to retire. Both intended to tour the country and see the world but, according to RocketNews24, both were unable to fulfil their plans when Mrs Kuroki lost her sight due to diabetes complications. Back then, she was 52.

The couple, particularly Ms Kuroki, were heartbroken. She became so traumatized that she became reclusive, locking herself out of the world and spending every hour indoors every day. She suffered tremendously, and then her caring husband wanted to do something that would eternally cheer her up. If Mrs Kuroki did not see the world any longer, then her husband was determined to bring the world to her.

A thousand roses I would give to you, just to see you smile

Mr Kuroki had a small pink shibazakura flowers garden which people would always stop to admire. His wife had always liked the flowers, and while he knew she couldn’t see them, he wanted to plant more flowers on their dairy farm all over the area. He hoped their beautiful scent would make her happy, and she would find happiness knowing she’s surrounded by thousands of blooming little flowers so lovingly planted with her.

Fortunately, Mr Kuroki’s strategy has been a success. He gradually lined the garden with pink shibazakura flowers for two years. There were thousands of flowers everywhere at the end of its planting spree. The small dairy farm that had previously housed around 60 cows was turned into a major tourist attraction in Miyazaki. Each spring when the flowers are in bloom, no fewer than 7,000 visitors flock to the garden every day to enjoy the beautiful scenery. People come in from neighbouring cities, towns, and even other countries to enjoy the pink garden inspired by a powerful love tale.

He’d really taken his wife to the world.

Lots of people also want to meet the lovely Mrs Kuroki who visits the garden. She can also be seen wandering around the garden while the flowers are in bloom, with a huge smile on her face, greeting people and socializing. This is what matters most to her husband.

If you’re ever in Japan, you should go visit them. They’ll inspire you to love with everything you’ve got.
