To say that successful YouTuber Logan Paul’s 2018 got off to a rocky start could be an understatement. At the same time as most people have been busy making ready to usher in the New year, he was editing and adding the very last touches to one of the most controversial movies in YouTube history.
Released on New Year’s Eve, Logan’s video of a suicide victim’s corpse in a notorious Japanese forest sent shockwaves around the globe.
The 22-year-old vlogger determined that it’d be a very good idea to film a video in Japan’s Aokigahara woodland, that is more usually referred to as the “Suicide forest”. In 2010 alone, 200 human beings tried to take their own lives there. Fifty-four of them were successful
Claiming that the purpose was to create an enjoyable piece of content based on it being haunted, Logan was shocked while he finds a corpse placing from a tree. rather than stopping the camera there and then, he continued to record the incident.
When the video was uploaded, Logan was condemned for his decision to make the video in the first region – especially as much of his target market includes younger and impressionable kids, lots of whom could be distressed through seeing a suicide victim hanging from a tree.
And that’s not to mention the insensitivity which it confirmed toward the sufferer’s circle of relatives and friends.
In his first televised interview since it happened, Logan at once apologized in the wake of the backlash, claiming that he’s “a good man who made a terrible choice”. YouTube afterward cut all ties with him which, in the video below, he explains “hurt”:
whilst Logan first posted the video, he demonetized it in order that he wouldn’t be capable of make the most of its perspectives, but given his popularity for appearing risky stunts for views in the past, he most possibly knew that it might create site visitors on his monetized content.
In addition to apologizing, Logan donated a million dollars to suicide prevention agencies and, three weeks after the arguable video became published on January 24, he back to YouTube with a vlog where he took an in-depth examine suicide prevention.
Now, Logan appears to be again to his ordinary outlandish antics in an try and re-setup himself as a likable and exciting internet personality. Taking to Twitter yesterday, he found out that his parachute didn’t open all through a jump from an aircraft.
“here’s a photo of my empty pack after i had to cut away my main parachute bc it didn’t open
i can tell you – the feeling of the blue reserve parachute opening & functioning properly was miraculous
this has never happened to another student before at this school. LP lives on (sic)“
This, however, isn’t the first time that Logan has put himself at risk even as vlogging. In October of last year, he told that he had lost 15% of his right testicle when he landed onto a chair in a video for the now-defunct Vine where he first made his name.
Pictured beneath is Logan’s parachute that didn’t open.
This tweet was uploaded following Logan’s appearance on Good Morning America where he spoke out about the backlash he’s been subject to. While he appeared remorseful, he did not accept responsibility for the younger viewers who saw the video and blamed their parents.
“I’m going to be honest… I think parents should be monitoring what their children are watching more.
Every parent I meet whose kids are under nine or an age of, like, 12, I go, ‘Hey, you let your kids watch my stuff,’ and they go, ‘Yeah, what am I going to do?’”
“Apparently Logan Paul had his existence flash before his eyes these days,” wrote Twitter consumer Brian Koerber.
Given Logan’s insensitive reaction to seeing the body of a suicide victim, people were quick to mock his brush with death.
“Too bad Karma didn’t do her job… (sic),” wrote Keynote.
