Ranganathan Madhavan and Sarita Birje have a tale of sweet love that not many people know about them. Theirs was a long eight-year dating, which resulted in their wedding. We have now been together as husband and wife for almost two decades. They survived the ups and downs of life together during this period and were a constant support for one another. The two met in 1991 at a correspondence class
A Bachelor in Electronics, Madhavan was very interested in joining the Armed Forces and entering the National Cadet Corps as well. Nevertheless, he was unable to fulfill his dream and began to teach interpersonal and public speaking classes in Kolhapur. Sarita was, on the other hand, an ambitious air hostess. She entered Madhavan’s courses in 1991 on the advice of her relatives to help her prepare for the interview process.
It was Sarita who asked Madhavan for a date although the class of Madhavan helped Sarita brushing up her skills, little did both know it would also prove to be a life-changing event for them. Talking about this in an interview, Madhavan said:
“When I met Sarita, I taught a class of personality development in Kolhapur. She was in an airliner looking for a career and attending my classes. She thought it was in part because of my classes when she eventually bagged the cat and took me to a’ thank you’ dinner. This love is how it started.
This one date led to a different one. And they decided to take a relationship to the next level after eight years of romancing and dating.
Their Tamil wedding was a private affair
It was 1999, and although at that time he hadn’t made it big in the film world, Madhavan had bagged roles in Hindi TV series such as Banegi Apni Baat and Sea-Hawks. He also hosted Tol Mol Ke Bol’s popular game show. That year the couple decided to ring the bells of the wedding. In Chennai, they had a traditional Tamil wedding, which was an affair of strict family and friends.
