Mahogany Geter, An ambitious model, Mahogany Geter, 24, was born with a 100-lb leg due to a unique ailment. Geter had struggled her entire life until she was given the opportunity to become a model. This opportunity sent her on a mission to promote body positivity among others.

We wanted to share Geter’s story of self-love with you because we felt it to be encouraging and a wonderful illustration of how beauty can be found everywhere.

Mahogany Geter, a Tennessee resident, was born with a unique disease that caused her to have a 100-pound left leg. The illness, known as lymphedema, can result in an accumulation of extra fluids in the body’s soft tissue, which can cause swelling. This affects Geter’s entire left side of the body, although only her leg is the most obvious.

Right after her birth, Geter was given the diagnosis, which made walking incredibly challenging for her. Of course, being an additional 100 pounds drains my vitality, she continued. She is more likely to develop fibrosis as a result of the disease, and the only treatment for it is physiotherapy and massages to drain the extra fluid in her leg.

She had a difficult time growing up.

“I’ve been through a pretty depressed state because you’re a tiny kid, and you have a bunch of older adults staring at you,” the model said when discussing the many challenges she encountered growing up. Her youth was filled with taunts and numerous unjustified remarks from others. She said, “I’ll just say it probably can affect you more mentally and emotionally.

“I never felt attractive as a kid. I sobbed in private so many times because I felt ugly and like a freak of nature, said Geter. Numerous doctors had advised her to have surgery, but she had declined each time, claiming that in some other, more serious cases, the growth had persisted after the procedure. She made the decision to embrace who she was instead.

She began her modelling journey in 2017.

When a photographer noticed Geter in 2017 while she was working at Walmart, her life was permanently altered. The young lady eventually consented to allow the photographer to take images of her after initially believing it to be a hoax. She stated, “I was thinking, ‘I’m growing older, maybe it’s time I start putting my whole body out there,’ and hopefully me doing that can assist someone else.

Geter’s modelling career was launched by this particular chance. She then appeared in a popular YouTube video that garnered over 10 million views. She has become more active on Instagram and other social media sites. The majority of the feedback I’ve received has been favourable, and the comments that I like the most are the ones that say it helps other people who are equally self-conscious.

She aims to help others embrace their unique bodies.

Geter has maintained her optimistic attitude throughout, noting, “People have been very wonderful and supportive of me online,” despite the fact that her expanded online profile has attracted some Internet trolls. Not everything is trolling and depressing. She has persisted in promoting body positivity and motivating people to feel better about their bodies.

Geter is devoted to achieving her goal of modelling. “I’ll do everything I can to raise awareness of lymphedema to repay everyone who has ever been kind to me,” says the aspiring singer. “If I ever make it famous, I want to buy my mom a house and take care of my family. She keeps using her illness as motivation for others to embrace their individuality.

Her journey has inspired many.

Geter’s journey has been challenging, but she has learned to embrace herself and is determined to teach others the same. “For a long time, I had such poor self-esteem, but as I grew older, with a lot of help from the online lymphedema community and my mom, who is my role model, I came to realise how beautiful I am.
