Social media users have taken notice of a very concerning event in which a woman purchased a McDonald’s “Minicraft” meal for her niece and allegedly found a cigarette inside the meal box. The social networking site X (previously Twitter) published a message that exposed the occurrence.

The customer tagged @McDonaldsIndia, @fssaiindia, @zomato, and @deepigoyal, urging immediate action for the dangerous incident

The customer shared a screenshot of a LinkedIn post in which she voiced her displeasure over the startling discovery of a cigarette in a child’s meal box that was bought from McDonald’s Bannerghatta Road in Bengaluru via Zomato.

The client further stated that this is a total failure of quality control and an insensitive breach of food safety regulations, not merely a case of carelessness. She also expressed her worry about what might have happened if the youngster had handled or swallowed it without realising it.

She added that global brands need to answer for their actions, particularly when it comes to the health of children.

We also think that there could have been serious repercussions from this incident.

In her tweet, the user urged the food delivery app and the accountable restaurant to act immediately on the issue.

The catastrophic food safety and hygiene failure is being brought to light in this piece. In response to the post, one person said,

There will be No accountability by these companies. They will only say we won’t let this happen again and this will happen again n again n again. You should file a case on both zomato and Mcdonalds

More stringent regulatory oversight is required for fast-food chains’ food quality monitoring. Customers are entitled to demand responsibility and a comprehensive investigation. Customers are advised to stay vigilant and notify the eating Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) right away if they have any unwholesome eating experiences.
