Morning Habits: Old habits die hard, that’s why we do some things without even thinking about how harmful they are – especially in the morning when we don’t have time to spare. Do you drink a cup of coffee every morning or have cereal with milk for breakfast? These may not be the best ways to start your morning.

1. Not starting the day with a shower

We face a series of questions every day (both relevant to work and others) that we are required to answer during the day. A morning shower makes it easier for us to search for answers, according to a doctor from Harvard, because it allows the brain to become involved and less likely to be disturbed by external factors. A shower enables fresh and unusual ideas to be created by the brain. This is why the opportunity to get a shower when you wake up can never be overlooked.

2. Taking Hot showers

Since hot water has a soothing effect, it will make you want to crawl back into bed by taking a hot shower in the morning. There are a few benefits of taking cold morning baths. It allows you to feel refreshed, stimulates brain activity and makes it more difficult for your immune system to function. Cold water does not make the skin dry, unlike hot water, and, according to scientists, people who frequently take a cold shower will lose around 9 lb a year.

3. Checking your phone for a long time

The primary explanation for why so many people log on to their phones first thing in the morning is social media. How we spend the day is contingent on how we spend the morning. That being said, stop wasting your time checking in on the lives of others, reading their comments and views, and spend this time on yourself instead! The same goes for checking the e-mail inbox of your company, as this will make your workday longer. It’s easier to turn your favourite music on, spend time with the ones you love, or cook a tasty and healthy breakfast.

4. Wasting time on your outfit

Have you ever spent hours in the morning asking yourself, “What should I wear on Earth?” In the morning, there’s enough confusion you don’t have time for, so don’t make things harder by looking for clothing. Decrease the range of clothes you have in your wardrobe to make your choice easier. The iconic jeans and black shirt combination was worn by Steve Jobs of Apple, not because he was saving money, but because he knew his time was precious.

In your wardrobe, find a separate place where you put only the clothes you wear to work in. Keep only black jackets and white shirts in this area if you have a dress code that requires you to wear a black jacket and a white shirt. Regularly search your wardrobe and get rid of the stuff you no longer wear. Hold in a different location any apparel that is off-season as well.

5. Eat cereal

The normal cereal part (50 grammes ) contains approximately 4 tbsp. Around sugar. A lot of sugar induces an injection of insulin into the blood in the morning, and you get sleepy and lethargic when the effect wears off. When added to cereals, milk, yoghurt and fresh fruit are often unhealthy to consume in the morning, so it’s better to stay away from them.

Recently, a prominent dietitian, Chelsey Amer, said that consuming a slice of pizza in the morning is better than a bowl of cereal. There are proteins, fats, and carbohydrates in pizza, which makes it a healthy meal. It’s important to note not to eat more than one slice, however.

You should eat scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, or meat that does not contain too much fat, except for pizza.

6. Brush your teeth after food

The enamel on your teeth becomes fragile after consuming food, especially if you eat fruit, citrus, or drink soda since they contain citric acid and phosphoric acid. Instead, what you should do is wash your mouth with water and remove the leftovers with dental floss from the meal. Only 30 minutes after consuming some meal, try to brush your teeth.

7. Drink black coffee

Right after waking up, black coffee makes cortisol levels high, contributing to anxiety. And you can get gastritis if you drink coffee while you are hungry. Research indicates that three or four hours after waking up is the perfect time to drink your first cup of coffee. However, add a little milk or cream to it if you can’t resist drinking coffee in the morning. This way, the harsh effects of alcohol on the stomach would be minimised.

8. Make the bed right away

You provide a good atmosphere for dust mites when you make your bed right after you get up, since the moisture that your body has left on the sheets during the night does not have a chance to evaporate. After you wake up, scientists suggest absolutely lifting the blanket from the mattress to let the sheets dry.

We know that giving up your bad habits all at once is extremely difficult. That’s why, one at a time, it’s better to give them up. We decided to start by giving up checking our phones first thing in the morning. How about you?
