In Pakistan, the price of tomatoes was so sharp that a bride replaced gold jewelry with fruit ornaments during her wedding. Yes, it’s true. Pakistani journalist Naila Inayat shared with a news channel a short clip of the bride’s interview as she explained why she chose’ tomato jewelry.’
In the video, the bride wore earrings, maang-tika, necklace, and tomato bracelets, dressed in a gold outfit. She personally said she also got pine nuts as her wedding gift in envelopes. Asked about it, she said in the interview, “The gold price is very high. Tomatoes and pine nuts are also costly, so I used tomatoes for my wedding.”
“Tomato jewelry, if you think you’ve seen it all in life,” Naila said.
