An individual from Pune complained about a paneer biryani they claimed to have ordered from Zomato on X (previously Twitter).

The dish, which was bought from PK Biryani House in Karve Nagar, Pune, on Zomato, allegedly included an unexpected chicken chunk. Even though the person received a refund, the experience hurt the person’s vegetarianism and received a lot of attention online.

Zomato promptly addressed the complaint on X, asserting,

“Hi Pankaj, our utmost priority is to uphold everyone’s sentiments without compromise. Kindly share your order ID or registered phone number via DM for investigation.”

Stories about food delivery companies and airlines that include faulty food deliveries often make the news. Similar events occurred in March when Zomato came under fire after an X post claimed that the customer’s intended vegetarian order had been delivered in the form of chicken. To conduct additional research, the site apologised and asked for the user’s registered phone number.

Food quality issues also come up frequently. Before this, a picture went viral showing a woman who was quite disappointed and disgusted after finding a cockroach in her ramen from Auntie Fung’s. Zomato responded to her complaint, indicating that the industry is still debating quality control.
