The Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s new social media vertical for Hindi fans has drawn criticism from its local supporters for publishing X messages in Hindi. When clubs like the Delhi Capitals or Rajasthan Royals don’t write their messages in Kannada, fans wonder why the RCB uses Hindi on social media.
What do fans have to say?
The problem began when RCB used social media to reveal their new squad following a recent massive auction. Virat Kohli was spotted addressing the new team’s supporters in a different message that was released in Hindi by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru Hindi X handle.
“You are no longer a Kannadiga team,” remarked a second user. I’m ashamed of you. Does the Delhi Challengers use Kannada in their tweets? You’re tweeting in Hindi, but why? You are not Bengaluru in spirit or strength, and you are misusing the Bengaluru name, as Kumble and Dravid correctly pointed out. You will be shown your place by Kannadigas.
However, given that RCB has supporters all over the country, some individuals believed that a Hindi website was necessary for those who know the language. “The RCB team’s Hindi page is much needed to reach north Indian RCB supporters,” a user commented. However, RCB is celebrated throughout India, not just in Karnataka, despite the belief held by some that this is a Hindi imposition.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru Kannada social media vertical, which features content only in Kannada, was previously introduced by the RCB squad. In addition to English posts, the primary RCB social media account occasionally offers Kannada content as well.
