Even if our lifestyle and technology have advanced in the modern era, modern thought frequently lags behind. Misogyny is still very much alive and well, and some people openly display it. On the social media site X, a man recently made a plainly misogynistic comment that incited indignation. By posting a screenshot of his post and responding appropriately, singer Chinmayi Sripada called him out. Since then, her comment has gone viral.
A man posted a contentious New Year’s tweet on X, displaying his misogyny.
A tweet sent on X (previously Twitter) by a user named Venom on January 1 sparked a lot of outrage due to its obvious misogyny. The uproar started when the CEO of Blinkit presented an intriguing statistic: on New Year’s Eve, 1.2 lakh condom packets were delivered throughout India.
Venom saw this as a chance to demonstrate his backward thinking rather than as a sign of knowledge or accountability. His post said,
“Blinkit CEO posted that 1.2 lakh packets of condoms were delivered last night. Just for last night and just for Blinkit. Other e-commerce sites and market sales would be as high as 10 million.”
The sentence that ignited everyone alike was his conclusionary remark that read,
“Good luck finding a virgin girl to marry in this generation.”
His remark suggested a very antiquated and sexist viewpoint, neglecting the fact that sexual health and personal preferences are private affairs and comparing a woman’s value to her virginity.
By presenting the conversation in this manner, he exposed a worldview that aims to disgrace women in addition to displaying his sexism.

Chinmayi Sripada responded appropriately when she pointed out the sexist post:
In addition to inciting indignation among social media users, musician and activist Chinmayi Sripada also strongly reacted to Venom’s discriminatory remark. Chinmayi, who is well-known for her unwavering support of women’s rights, would not be quiet in the face of such obvious bigotry.
She posted a screenshot of Venom’s tweet to her social media accounts and responded appropriately, getting right to the point.
Chinmayi wrote,
“Men have sex with women. Then men complain they want virgins. Men need to stop having premarital sex with women ask your bros and male friends to NEVER have sex till marriage- unless they were buying condoms to have sex with goats, dogs and reptiles.”
