‘Ticketless’ Mumbai Woman Shouts At Railway Officials During Checking; Video Goes Viral

Recently, a video of a woman making a big scene during a ticket inspection went viral, causing disruption on Mumbai’s busy suburban railway network. The woman is seen screaming, sobbing, and arguing with ticket checkers and Railway Protection Force (RPF) officers in the video, which was allegedly taken at the foot-over bridge at Thane railway station.

The woman, who is wearing traditional office wear, is seen in the video yelling as a man grabs her handbag, apparently to prevent her from running away when she was asked to provide a legitimate train ticket. The video also shows an RPF officer trying to defuse the situation and press her to cooperate. But the woman seems more and more upset.

Days have passed since another disagreement during ticket checking descended into violence before this episode. After being trapped on a First Class coach of a Virar fast local on August 2 with only a Second Class ticket, a passenger caused damage to railway property. Between Andheri and Borivali, Deputy Chief Ticket Inspector Shamsher Ibrahim was conducting the check.

Three people were discovered travelling without legitimate First Class tickets, while one person had no ticket at all, according to officials. One of the accused grew hostile when they were brought to the ticket checker’s office after being disembarked at Borivali. A computer CPU and other equipment were destroyed by the passenger during the altercation. The accused and railway employees both received medical assistance after suffering minor wounds.
