Language conflicts between North and South India frequently serve as a reminder of the nation’s lack of inclusivity and cultural awareness. Different language priorities are often the cause of these disputes. While some regions support Hindi’s supremacy, others work to maintain their regional languages—often in the wrong ways. Karnataka’s Bengaluru has grown in popularity as a venue for these discussions. One recent instance is the issue surrounding a woman who told another audience about her terrifying experience during Diljit Dosanjh’s performance in Bengaluru.
A woman talks about her upsetting encounter with a Kannada woman at a Diljit Dosanjh concert due to a linguistic barrier.

The rising tensions in Bengaluru over linguistic and cultural differences have been brought to light by a recent incident at a Diljit Dosanjh concert. A woman by the name of Tanisha Sabherwal posted on social media about her upsetting experience at the celebration, highlighting how a happy occasion descended into a dispute based on linguistic barriers.
Her primary tweet stated that she believes Bangalore would soon collapse. She continues by saying that studying Kannada is not the answer and advising readers to continue reading to find out what transpired at the Diljit Dosanjh event.

When the Kannada woman called the police, things got worse, but everyone in the area stood for Sabherwal and her friend:
When the woman accused Sabherwal’s friend of harassment and phoned the police, the situation deteriorated. Sabherwal, however, had captured the event on camera and presented it to the authorities, demonstrating their innocence. It’s interesting that she was asked to remove the video by the police. However, the crowd, who saw the entire event firsthand, supported them.
“She left and came back with the police, saying my friend was teasing her. And again, the police had to speak in Kannada, of course. We showed the video, and it was clear the opposite had happened. The police told us to ‘delete it.’” Despite the incident, no charges were filed, and bystanders supported Sabherwal’s side after watching the footage.
