Yuzvendra Chahal, a spinner for India, and Tabraiz Shamsi, a batter for South Africa, had a funny exchange over how Chahal was a “better batsman than Virat Kohli.” Although Shamsi and Chahal are well known for their close friendship, the Indian spin magician was recently caught on camera kicking his friend in a video that quickly went viral on social media.
They continued their banter on Twitter when Shamsi included Chahal in a tweet from a fan asking his followers to name a batsman who was superior to Virat Kohli in all three formats. In response to the fan’s tweet, the Proteas spinner hilariously tagged Chahal, referring to him as better than Kohli.
Chahal continued the mockery by claiming to be a better batsman than Shamsi in a million-dollar comeback.
The spinner for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), who also had a running joke with Jos Buttler during the IPL 2022, wrote, “Still better than you my bru.”
Shamsi continued to praise his friend as the “greatest of the era” without holding back.
Shamsi responded, “Not just me, you’re the best of our era bru. However, it wasn’t the end of their amusing conversation, as Chahal made a cheeky remark about Shamsi not wearing chest protection when facing spinners.
Chahal wrote, “Still I don’t wear chest armour while fighting spinners like you bru.”
The T20 World Cup 2022 has Team India and South Africa in the same Group, thus Chahal and Shamsi may yet have the chance to make amends when their respective teams square off on October 30 at Optus Stadium in Perth.
On October 27, however, India will play the Netherlands before that match, and later that day, the Proteas will play Bangladesh.
