Preparing for a role is rarely as simple as learning lines and delivering them in front of the camera. Actors are frequently required to endure significant bodily modifications in order to properly embody their characters.

We compiled a list of ten Hollywood stars who have pushed their bodies to the limit for the purpose of film.

To achieve a beach-body, he decreased his body fat to an exceptionally low level and pumped up with his on-screen pal Dwayne Johnson ahead to each film.

Given two months to prepare for his role as a bodybuilder in the film Pain & Gain, Wahlberg kept himself busy catching up in stature to his co-star Dwayne Johnson. He gained up to 40 pounds by eating up to ten meals per day. Even if he has slowed down, the effort he put into bulking up is still obvious every time he appears on-screen.

Gyllenhaal only had to display a peak body for his role as a champion boxer in Southpaw. According to reports, the actor was so driven to becoming in shape that he increased his original 3-hour-per-day workouts to 6 hours, which is possibly why his relationship at the time terminated.

Hugh Jackman was responsible for bringing the character of Wolverine to life, and he had a very tight diet while preparing for the films, which required an insanely high calorie intake and the complete absence of alcohol and sugar. To seem as trim as possible on set, the actor had to dehydrate himself for a day or so before each shirtless shot.
