A 100-year-old woman who works six days a week has shared the six items she eats to stay youthful and healthy and the habit she gave up to extend her life.
Based in New Jersey Mariam Todd demonstrates that you are only as old as you feel. She is now discussing the major lifestyle decisions she believes have kept her feeling so young. She works an astounding 50-hour work week, six days a week, in her family’s furniture store, which her parents began in 1929, thanks to her boundless enthusiasm.
What therefore is the key to her remarkable work ethic and her enduring spirit?
Mariam says it’s all about following a certain schedule, especially when it comes to eating and nutrition. The great-great-grandmother talked candidly with Today about how much she loves her job and that she didn’t think of it as work. She also said that her mother gave her the trait of being devoted to her work.
“I feel bad if I say I’m working because I can’t say I’m working when I enjoy what I’m doing,” she remarked.
Although she can see why some people would want to retire at age sixty, she said she couldn’t picture being “happy” just “staying at home.” Living with her son, Mariam continues to drive, shop for groceries, and prepare meals despite her advanced age.
She also attributes it to regular routines, such as what she consumes. Thanks to her wholesome diet, the centenarian, who hasn’t visited the doctor in three years, has been fortunate enough to enjoy excellent health her entire life.
Mariam generally abstains from alcohol and steers clear of fast food and fried foods. Rather, she eats an abundance of veggies and constantly ensures that her dish is “multi-coloured.” The 100-year-old consumes tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini and yellow squash.
