Because of its unwavering commitment to the downtrodden masses, the media has long been regarded as the fourth pillar of democracy. It was a tool for fighting corruption and discrimination based on social class.

A century ago, our freedom fighters utilised the press to raise their voices against British tyranny. However, as technology advanced, new forms of media appeared, and the media began to become commercialised. It has gone from the fourth to the first pillar of corruption and injustice.

Indian journalism has been on a downward spiral for the past two decades, selling fake information, praising excessive noise levels, and openly asserting things that make no sense. In recent years, the quality of India’s public debate has deteriorated due to the media. The expansion of the media has harmed the public sphere by encouraging elitist and socially backward values. And it’s all due to TRP’s insatiable appetite.

This fixation with TRPs is causing a serious and maybe fatal credibility crisis. The decline in Indian journalism can be seen in a variety of ways, including the rise of TV debates and crowded newsrooms.

The dismal level of journalism that dominates Indian media has become synonymous with names like Navika Kumar and Arnab Goswami. During the previous half-decade, this new breed of journalists has spread its poison and given rise to awful ignorance and audacious falsehood to please Joseph Goebbels.

Here’s a collection of the worst things Indian news anchors have said:
