There have been occasions when Bollywood has delivered a film that we did not expect in the worst possible way. However, other films performed exceptionally well only because to their twists, storylines, cinematography, and other elements.
Raid – 2018
Raid is a contemporary crime drama starring Ajay Devgn, Ileana D’Cruz, and Saurabh Shukla. The film is based on real-life I-T raids carried out by Indian Revenue Service agents in the 1980s.
Despite the fact that the video is slow in parts and only shows one raid in two hours, it has piqued the interest of audiences, who have given it a thumbs up. Ajay Devgn, who is most known for his roles in Golmaal and Singham, has broken the mould with this film, and the results are magnificent.
Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety – 2018
The picture surpassed all expectations and raked in record-breaking box office receipts. The Pyaar Ka Punchnama cast and crew worked together to produce a unique storey, a bromance, that the audience loved.
SKSKT exceeded predictions and became the second highest-grossing picture of 2018 behind Padmaavat, despite the fact that many expected it to be a low-budget film that would be monotonous like the previous series.
Golmaal Again – 2017
In 2017, the Golmaal series’ fourth instalment was released. It was a mash-up of horror, drama, and comedy. Tabu and Parineeti Chopra were also newcomers to the franchise. This was a great hit, especially considering how many movie series fail after the second and third instalments.
Tusshar Kapoor, who is presently only seen in the Golmaal series, and Kunal Kemmu, who had not been seen in a long time, wowed us with their wit and charisma, as well as their spectacular collecting. Despite conflicting reviews, the picture was a tremendous hit with the audience.
Hindi Medium – 2017
The film, which stars Irrfan Khan and Pakistani actress Saba Qamar, has made Rs 100 crore, making it the fifth film to do so in 2017. This was the third film to be released in China after Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Secret Superstar.
The video took a lighthearted look at India’s educational system and how running a school has turned into a lucrative business, putting lower-income adults and carers at risk.
Secret Superstar – 2017
In China, the film has already grossed over Rs 500 crore, making it a career-high hit.
It is the highest-grossing Hindi film of the year and the second-highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, behind only Dangal (2016). It’s also the third-highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time, behind Dangal and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.
English Vinglish – 2012
Sridevi’s long-anticipated return to the big screen was being awaited with bated breath. People had high hopes for her because she was such a phenomenal performer in the 1980s. And the lady did not disappoint me. Taking a real-life subject, such as how society handles someone who doesn’t speak English, caught our hearts, and the incredible array of artwork portrayed it all. She proved that she can still play the leading lady in her films.
English Vinglish grossed over US$4 million overseas, according to Box Office India, making it one of the top ten highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2012.
ABCD 2 – 2015
This film covers the highs and lows of an Indian dance company from the Mumbai outskirts, telling the genuine storey of a fictional dancing group.
While dancing films such as Aaja Nachle did not earn positive reviews, this film did. ABCD 3 is already in the works, according to sources, and is being kept under wraps due to its success.
Dum Laga Ke Haisha -2015
Dum Laga Ke Haisha became one of the few Hindi films to make more money in its second season than in its first. Dum Laga Ke Haisha had the best fifth weekend of the year as well. People flock to movie theatres to see a good-looking actress with a stunning figure, a few item numbers, and Bollywood films where she dances around trees.
However, this film established that if the material is good, an actress’s body and face do not have to be on par with the other leading females. As a result, decent films began to appear.
Baaghi – 2016
Baaghi, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Tiger Shroff, reportedly collected Rs 74.37 crore on day 17 at the box office. In the hunt for Gen-Y stars, the performer has established herself as a serious competitor. Despite a shaky start, the picture went on to become a box office success.
Baaghi 2 has already been released in theatres due to the success and profitability of the first instalment of the film.
