We lie every day according to various research studies and statistics. We lie about little things at times, and big things at other times. Our lies, in general, affect our family, friends and another half. Of course, sometimes the truth comes out— like when, for example, a person finds something he shouldn’t have.

1 “My mum would always say that my father was an angry man. Yet I loved him always and felt guilty for him. As I went through the belongings of my late daddy, I discovered that he had lost so much of his meagre income by avoiding grocery shopping so that he could leave something for us.

“The left pic depicts my first Christmas, the right one shows my dad with my son.”

2 “We found his journal after my grandfather passed away. We had an irresistible urge to read it, so we went through their pages. We were shocked to read how much my grandma used to miss him.

“His diary also had this stunning picture which I stole and have placed in my room.”

3 “I’d dated my mother for two years. I opened her email unintentionally and saw some very frank conversation. More significant, it was sent to a friend of mine, whom I knew well.

4 “I was twenty-one years old and I fell in love with a guy who was twenty-eight years old. Once, I found his passport in the wardrobe. It turns out, he was thirty-eight years old and lied to me all the time because he knew I wouldn’t want to date an” old man.

“I’ve forgiven him and 7 years later we had our first baby.”

5 “At the age of 8, I found a wrapped gift with a sticker in my mom’s bag that said, ‘ rubbers. ‘ I was surprised. I got this box for Christmas. Luckily it had rain shoes and nothing more.”

“My cousin told me a few days before this about where kids come from and what ‘ rubbers ‘ they are. So I was pretty shocked when I came across a box in my mom’s purse, with that word on it.”

6. “Found an old letter sent to my mother who struggled to make my trumpet payments.”

7. “Remodeling the basement of my grandfather, and building this … Feels like he’s standing in front of me, crying.”

8 “Every day, I put a note into my son’s lunch. I found out today at conferences for parents/teachers that he holds us.”

9. “My mum found this card in the house of my granny. Obviously, when I was 2 I gave her 10 cents on her birthday and she stuck it onto a wallet and kept it all her life.”
