An Instagram influencer started a scandal by saying Bengaluru would be abandoned if all North Indians left. Influencer Sugandh Sharma said that even paying guest rooms (PGs) would be unoccupied if North Indians left Bengaluru in an Instagram reel shot in the city’s Koramangala neighbourhood.
Outrage erupted when the video went viral, with many denouncing her comments as demeaning to the city’s history and culture.

Many people, including celebrities and regular people, denounced the statements as insulting and polarising as the post went viral among internet users.
Public personalities expressing their displeasure with Sharma’s comments included rapper and actor Chandan Shetty, actress Chaithra Achar and Anupama Gowda, and Bigg Boss stars Rupesh Rajanna and Dhanraj. Shetty denounced the film as a promotional gimmick, and Gowda emphasised the need to preserve harmony in Bengaluru’s diverse community.
We are willing to put up with Bangalore becoming vacant and dancers fewer pubs if you could genuinely leave, just as an experiment. We’re able to cope with it. Truly♥️. Ignore every other Native American. You go, ma’am. That’s enough for now. Achar remarked.
“If you think this is cool, you’re not.” Gowda said, “You need Bengaluru more than anything else, and your leaving Bengaluru won’t affect our OORU and for a fact that we all know you can’t leave Bengaluru.
Earlier incidents
A woman spoke earlier in July about her difficult experience working in Bengaluru. “What a hassle it was to drive from my flat to my office and back. The local auto drivers’ impudence in starting a conversation with me about why I was in Bangalore when I should have been in the North, whether I was learning Kannada, and whether I enjoyed anything other than the weather. They also asked for more money because I was newly married and pretended not to understand a word when I spoke in Hin/Eng. She described her interactions with the locals as “very bad.”
In a another instance, a Reddit member described his horrifying taxi ride in the city. “I asked the driver to turn on the air conditioning once I got in the car, mostly to keep dust out. The Redditor started, “The driver started saying in Kannada that why AC, you cancel the ride.” “Please drop me right away and I don’t want to go in your car,” he said politely to the driver. However, this was the decisive moment.
The Redditor claimed that the driver lost his temper. “He turned on the air conditioning right away and drove like a crazy person.” Brake abruptly, accelerate quickly, and continue driving carelessly. He said, “I thought a sudden jerk like this might trigger the dizziness because I have a vertigo problem.”
