Railways Respond After Passenger Complains About Filthy Toilets At Panvel Station

India surpasses Japan to become the fourth largest economy in the world, marking a significant economic milestone. However, the state of the restrooms at India’s Panvel Railway Station paints a different picture. In Navi Mumbai, it is among the busiest train stations. Public restrooms’ deplorable state presents a very alarming image of India’s unbalanced infrastructure.

The ground reality for regular passengers reveals a story of neglect, despite Indian Railways’ introduction of high-speed trains, renovated stations, and record expenditure.

An X user posted some really filthy images of the public restrooms at Panvel station on the platform.

The public restrooms at Panvel station are in terrible condition, according to pictures that passengers posted. The user asked, tagging officials like as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw,

as of 29 May 2025 we might have surpassed Japan to become 4th largest economy but what about the plight of toilets at Panvel railway station?!

The passenger also tagged @Tariq2506, @RailMinIndia, @IRCTCofficial, @PMOIndia

The majority of public restrooms are unmaintained in some areas, have broken fixtures, no running water, and an unpleasant stink. During emergencies, passengers—including women, children, and older citizens—are frequently compelled to overlook the unsanitary circumstances. The restrooms’ deplorable state makes them inappropriate for a station, let alone any public space.

Indian Railways responded to the post

Railways replied to the post tagging @DrmMumbaiCR on the social media platform X, stating,

“We’re listening and will do our best to help. The concerned officials are being notified.”

This acknowledgement gives hope that the public’s opinions are being heard. But only if there is a noticeable, tangible improvement in the coming days will the actual outcome have an effect.

India’s ascent to the fourth position in the world’s GDP rankings is cause for celebration, but it also means that we have an obligation to make sure that progress is evident in both everyday lives and financial figures.
