The food licence of Blinkit Commerce has been stopped with immediate effect after the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) took action against the company’s Malad, Mumbai warehouse. The FDA took action after inspecting cold storage facilities on August 7 and discovering a significant cockroach infestation, food left on the ground, corroded racks, and inadequate cleaning.
Inadequate waste management and sanitation, ineffective insect and rodent control methods, and flaws in the FIFO/FEFO system were also found during the inspection. As a result, on July 27, 2026, licence number 11524010000119 was suspended until further notice.
Between August 7 and 9, the FDA carried out a significant special inspection campaign against tainted, inferior, and noncompliant food goods throughout the state. Illegal stock valued at crores of rupees was confiscated during this effort, and numerous significant businesses and enterprises faced severe consequences.

*Five edible oil production and repackaging facilities in the Beed region were the target of significant FDA action. During the examination, serious anomalies were discovered, such as the filling of discarded tins with oil, incorrect labelling, and extremely unsanitary conditions. A total of 1,19,187.5 kg of edible oil, valued at over Rs 1.94 crore, were confiscated; Swagat Oil Industries alone produced oil valued at Rs 1.05 crore. All five establishments’ FSSAI permits were immediately suspended.
*When a customer complained of mould and live insects in “Laxmi Narayan” brand cashew katli at a Reliance retail store at ARD Cinemall, Buldhana, the FDA responded right away. 54 cartons of a different batch of the same product, totalling 11,340 kg of cashew katli (valued at Rs 10,238), were seized by the police, who then sent the samples to a lab for analysis.
*A significant amount of packaged “Oxyca” drinking water was seized by the FDA. 87,320 litres of packaged drinking water with an estimated market value of Rs 8.73 lakh were seized as a result of the examination.
*During a surprise examination of the “Varad Jaggery” jaggery manufacturing facility in Kolhapur, the FDA team found extremely unhygienic conditions and suspected adulteration in the jaggery manufacturing process. A total of 950 kg of suspect goods, worth Rs 42,750, were confiscated, including 450 kg of jaggery and 500 kg of white crystal sugar.
