A specially-abled Zomato delivery agent has shared a heartbreaking account of a delivery that left the internet outraged. Despite his physical disability and the absence of a lift, he climbed to the second floor to deliver an order — only for the customer to cancel it at the doorstep.
What Happened
In a video shared on Instagram by @Nihir_Rider (also associated with @handicapzomatorider), the delivery agent narrated the incident.
He received an order and called the customer when he arrived. He explained that he has a disability and would find it difficult to climb the stairs because the building had no lift. He requested the customer to come downstairs.
According to him, the customer replied:
“Ab main 50 rupees ki Maggi ke liye tere liye neeche aaun?”
(Should I come down for a Rs 50 Maggi for you?)
Despite the response, the agent decided to make the effort. He climbed the stairs to the second floor and reached the customer’s door with the order. At that moment, the customer cancelled the order.
The agent showed a screenshot of the “Order Cancelled” status in the video.
He captioned the post:
“Customer ke ghar tak parcel leke gaya, customer ne order cancel kar diya.”
Public Reaction
The video has gone massively viral, crossing over 1 million likes, more than 34,000 comments and 24 million views.
Many users expressed shock and sympathy:
- “It just breaks my heart… how people can be so insensitive and prioritise monetary power over humanity… I am really sorry sir, that you have to go through all this.”
- “More power and love to you brother.”
Messages of support poured in for the delivery agent.
At the same time, the video sparked debate. A few users questioned why the person recording did not help carry the order upstairs, while others wondered if the incident could have been staged. Most, however, focused on the difficulties delivery workers face daily and the lack of basic consideration shown in this case.
