A construction labourer was filmed slowly climbing the stairs of a multi-storey building all the way to the 21st floor while balancing two heavy concrete blocks on his head. The building had four functional lifts, but the workers were not allowed to use them.

The video, originally shared by Instagram user Dimps and later reshared widely on X, has triggered strong criticism over the treatment and dignity of labourers.

What the Video Shows

In the clip, the labourer can be seen making the long, exhausting climb with the heavy load on his head. The person recording points out that the building has four lifts, yet the workers are barred from using them to transport goods.

“Look, this building has four lifts, and these workers are not allowed to use the lift in order to carry the goods upstairs,” the person recording says. “The poor workers are climbing the stairs all the way to the 21st floor.”

He further remarks: “This is how our country will progress. They have four lifts; the poor have no access to these things.”

Public Outrage

X user Amit Singh (@RockstarAmit) reshared the video with a sharp caption:
“This worker is forced to carry heavy loads all the way up to the 21st floor, despite the building having 4 lifts reserved strictly for ‘residents only’. Pure lack of basic humanity.”

Viewers expressed anger and disbelief. Many described the restriction as a clear disregard for the workers’ well-being and dignity. Some compared the treatment to exploitation, questioning what progress means if labourers are forced into such conditions. Others pointed out the irony of a building under construction or recently completed having modern facilities that remain inaccessible to the very people helping build or maintain it.

The video has once again highlighted the gap between modern infrastructure and the everyday realities faced by construction workers. While many buildings have clear policies about lift usage, the sight of a labourer hauling heavy material up dozens of floors has left many questioning whether such rules prioritise convenience over basic human consideration.
