What was supposed to be a solo run through rural Odisha turned into a harrowing encounter for a British content creator after she reported that a man followed her on a bicycle and continued pursuing her into an isolated region.

The traveller, who publishes online as Amy On The Move, filmed the encounter in a video that has subsequently spread throughout social media. According to her testimony, she was out jogging when she observed a man following her. She ultimately reached what appeared to be an abandoned or deserted spot and found that she was alone with the man still behind her.

Feeling uneasy, the creator started filming and made a video call to a buddy to let them know what was going on. She may be heard expressing her dissatisfaction and worry in the video.

“This town isn’t off to a fantastic start. During the video chat, she stated, “That guy is following me. I’m honestly kind of over India, I think I’m just going to leave. This guy is making me so nervous.”

She was also heard shouting, “Go away, leave me alone,” as she confronted the man head-on.

As she continues to move through the neighbourhood, the man appears to be riding a bicycle following her in the footage. She apparently found herself in a remote area with the man still pursuing her, which made the scenario much more alarming.

“On a run in rural India, I got stalked by a guy on a bike, then trapped in an abandoned area,” the maker wrote after posting the video online. I contacted a friend and made it clear that the guy was on camera, which is probably the only way I got away. To be honest, I’ve already grown weary of India and will probably be leaving.

Online reactions to the video were intense, with many individuals denouncing the man’s purported behaviour. However, some cautioned lone tourists to be more cautious when visiting remote or unfamiliar places, especially in rural areas.

The incident also raised concerns regarding the traveler’s perception of her overall Indian experience.

She told Hindustan Times that before the alleged event occurred in Odisha, she had been travelling around the nation for almost two weeks. She clarified that she had organised a more extensive cycling journey around India, beginning in Kolkata, then on to Kerala, and finally ascending the western coast.

She did, however, claim that the purported occurrence had caused her to wonder if travelling alone was safe.

The video creator said that she had not reported the event to the authorities because she didn’t think the police would act. She also gave examples of what she called a lack of enforcement, such as instances of people trash in front of police officers.

Since then, the video has sparked a larger internet conversation regarding the safety of lone travellers, particularly those who are visiting uncharted territory.
