Recently, A Delhi-based woman told Apple CEO Tim Cook her incredible story and explained how her Apple Watch was crucial in saving her life. The 35-year-old policy researcher Sneha Sinha had a terrifying health incident one evening when her heart began to palpate.
When she tried to check her heart rate, her Apple Watch Series 7 ran out of energy. Still, after it was recharged, it identified Atrial Fibrillation (AF) and immediately recommended that she get help.

Thankful for the prompt notification from her Apple Watch, Sneha Sinha raced to the hospital, where medical professionals verified her dangerously high heart rate and provided critical care, including DC shocks to return sinus rhythm.
As she reflected on her experience, Sinha stressed how important it was for her Apple Watch to help her doctors with her therapy by giving them important data.

“My Apple Watch consistently showed a high heart rate. Despite attempting to calm my heart rate with deep breathing, I continued to feel strong jugular pulsations in my neck and a rapid heart beat in the chest for a long time. However, after about 1.5 hours, the Watch’s ECG app detected Atrial Fibrillation and notified me that I should see a doctor immediately,” shares Sinha in a conversation with India Today Tech. “Only after the AFib alert, I contacted my friend to take me to the hospital. If not for the Apple Watch notification, I would have waited until morning to seek medical help, hoping that the palpitations would calm down sooner or later,”
Sinha continued. Since November 2022, she has been wearing an Apple Watch Series 7.
“In the emergency room, doctors observed that my heart rate exceeded 250 beats per minute, with an unrecordable blood pressure. They immediately administered oxygen, medication and attempted carotid sinus massage. Unfortunately, these measures did not succeed in stabilising my heart rate. Following that, they ultimately administered DC shocks to restore normal sinus rhythm of the heart. The doctors mentioned that I reached the hospital just in time,”

The readings from Sneha Sinha’s Apple Watch were crucial to her treatment, as both she and her doctors knew.
“That night in the emergency, my briefing about my heart rate was completely based on the data and notifications from my Apple Watch. The next morning, too, I provided information to the cardiologists based on the recorded data from the Watch, specifically highlighting the signs of Atrial Fibrillation (AF) detected by the device,”
she Says
She also expressed her gratitude to Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, for creating the Apple Watch.
“Its advanced heart monitoring features saved my life”, she said in the email. “It is not an exaggeration if I say that had the Apple Watch not detected the serious heart condition, I would have lost my life,”
She continued.
Sinha wrote an email to Tim Cook expressing her sincere gratitude for the Apple Watch’s life-saving qualities, emphasising that she might not have survived without its sophisticated cardiac monitoring features. Having previously completed difficult hikes and had no health problems, Sinha now wears her Apple Watch regularly, seeing it as an essential tool for her continued well-being.
Apple CEO Tim Cook replied to her email.

Sneha Sinha travels to high-altitude mountain regions often, taking on strenuous treks such as the Kheer Ganga walk, the Valley of Flowers excursion, and the Zanskar Valley climb. She has travelled to several high-altitude locations, such as Tsomoriri, Ladakh, Hanle, Pangong Tso, Siachen base camp, Gurugdongmar, and North Sikkim, thanks to her sense of adventure. She has been extremely well despite her long travels and strenuous activities.
Sneha now wears her Apple Watch both during the day and every night as part of her routine. She expects it to become an essential component of her collection of wearable electronics for many years to come.
