Casting director Mukesh Chhabra recently shared that Akshay Kumar stepped in to arrange heart treatment for his mother, even though the two weren’t close friends. Chhabra explained that he needed to connect with a specific doctor at a hospital, and that’s when Akshay Kumar came to his aid.
During an interview with Ranveer Allahbadia, Mukesh Chhabra mentioned that his mother, Kamal Chhabra, had developed a heart condition two years ago. Filmmaker Anand L Rai then informed him that the doctor they needed to see was well-known to Akshay Kumar.
“So, I reached out to Akshay Kumar, and he immediately called back. He took care of everything at the hospital, and for 15 consecutive days, he called me almost daily. He would ask, ‘How is your mother doing? How are you?’ He also stayed in constant communication with the doctor. He never talks about it, and I hadn’t mentioned it either.”
“Even with his busy schedule, he would ask every morning, ‘Mummy da ki haal hai?‘ I will never forget that. He even came to see my mother. We weren’t in regular contact, and usually, you help someone when you have a personal connection, but he still did that. We started talking more after that, but that moment is unforgettable,” Chhabra continued.
Mukesh Chhabra’s mother passed away in 2023. Professionally, Chhabra has cast some of the most anticipated films, including the Ranbir Kapoor-led Ramayana, currently in production.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar recently faced a setback with his third release of the year, Khel Khel Mein, which is on its way to being a flop. The actor has been experiencing a tough time with nine films failing at the box office.
