The reason why Anurag Kashyap, a filmmaker, could never collaborate with Shah Rukh Khan has been revealed. The filmmaker, who attempted a disastrous film “Bombay Velvet” starring Bollywood celebrities such as Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar, and Anushka Sharma, has accused SRK’s enormous fan following of not wanting to work with him.
During an interview with Humans of Cinema, Kashyap was questioned about why, despite his immense respect for the icon, he had never collaborated with King Khan.
He said, “My favourite Shah Rukh Khan film is Chak De India. Also Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. In his beginning stage, SRK worked with everybody. But it is impossible to make a film with Shah Rukh Khan now. I aspired it once and I like him a lot, but I am very scared of fans now. In this day and age of social media, I am terrified by big stars’ fanbases. Actors get typecast because of fans, and the fans want the same things from them repeatedly. If that doesn’t happen fans reject it, so even actors get apprehensive about trying new things.”
“Therefore, I am scared because I will make the film I want to and not just cater to the fans,” the director continued. What follows then may have severe implications that will cost you a lot of money. Therefore, I am unable to satisfy SRK’s aura or enigma. I could have claimed that I had the bravery to collaborate with him if his movie Fan had been successful.
Anurag discussed the movie, which ended up being the worst failure of his life, in the interview as well. “Almost Pyaar is the biggest disaster of my life,” he revealed. I also lost all my money with DJ Mohabbat. I got to do my thing, at least, even though everyone else thought it was foolish to do that. I’m accountable for the mistake. I accept full responsibility for that. I am happier since I don’t regret anything.
